Free Document Scanner is free and keeps your documents on your device. This policy explains exactly what does and does not leave your phone.

What this app does

• Scans through your device camera using Google’s ML Kit Document Scanner, or imports document pages from your photo library.
• Captures, processes, and stores every scan only on your device.
• Lets you rename, reorder, rotate, delete, and export scans as PDF files, then share them through Android’s normal share sheet.

What this app does not do

• No account, sign-in, or registration.
• No cloud sync, backup, or upload of your documents. Document contents are never shared with the ad provider.
• No app-owned usage analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
• No app-owned server or backend.

Advertising

The Android app shows ads through Google AdMob: a banner on the home screen and, occasionally, a full-screen ad when you return to the app. App-open ads are never shown on the first launch, while scanning or editing, or more than once every four hours.

Google’s Mobile Ads SDK and User Messaging Platform make network requests and may use your advertising ID, device identifiers, and information about interactions with ads. This processing is performed by Google under Google’s advertising policies and privacy policy. Free Document Scanner does not receive, store, or build a profile from this information.

Where required by law, including the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, the app asks for consent before requesting an ad. If you decline, no ad is requested. Where available, you may revisit your choice through Privacy choices inside the app. If the consent check fails, the app shows no ads.

First-time scanner setup

The scanning feature uses Google’s ML Kit Document Scanner, delivered through Google Play services. On first use, Google Play services may download the on-device scanner module. That download is performed under Google Play services, not by Free Document Scanner. After the module is present, scanning, document management, PDF export, and sharing work offline.

Permissions

Free Document Scanner does not request camera or storage permission directly. ML Kit owns its camera interface, photo import happens inside that interface, and PDF sharing uses Android’s share sheet. SDK-provided permissions include internet and network-state access for consent, advertising, and scanner-module provisioning, plus Android advertising-ID access for Google’s ad SDK.

Data deletion

Deleting a document permanently removes its pages and exported PDF from your device. Uninstalling the app removes everything the app stored, including consent choices and local ad-frequency counters. Data processed by Google’s ad SDK is governed by Google’s controls and policies.

Children

This app is not directed at children. The app itself collects no information, and the ad SDK is configured without child-directed treatment.

When this policy changes, the last-updated date and the in-app privacy page will be updated.
